I had an Indigo Apple tomato plant that had this a few years ago and no one could tell me what caused it. I suspect that it was lack of water. It was in a black grow bag in the sunniest spot in the garden. This year at planting time I’m going to try sinking a 1liter water bottle with pin holes in the neck, and the bottom cut off, top down into the center of the pot to provide extra water directly to the roots between watering.
