Ants are likely on the loofah due to the presence of aphids – take a close look for these tiny insects. If you spot them, just knock them off the vines with a jet of water from your hose. You can also use an insecticidal soap, but be careful of any bees or pollinating insects that may be in the flowers. Hope this helps! Niki
]]>We have the same problem!! Little tiny ants Do we spray? First time growing luffa. Hate the idea of spraying due to backyard chickens, but will pen them up if necessary. No flowers yet. Getting nervous.

]]>Hi Laura, assuming a 30 gallon tub is about 20 inches across, I wouldn’t plant more than 3 loofah gourd plants in the tub. They grow into large plants and if they have to complete for water/nutrients, you’ll have fewer gourds. Hope that helps! – Niki
