Hi Lois, Removing the seed pod helps direct energy back into the bulb to produce next year’s leaves and flowers. That being said, if you forgot, you’ll likely still get a nice showing the following year.

Hi Caroline, The rhizomes can be planted flat, making sure the roots are covered in soil. Point the bigger end in the general direction towards which you’d like the plants to spread in the garden.

Hi Linda, It sounds like you’re referring to the seed heads. You can snip those off because it will help direct energy back to the bulb.

Hi Andrea,
Keep in mind the strawberries are perennial, so put them somewhere where you don’t mind them coming up each year. I would plant the potatoes along an edge as you’ll want to make it easy to mound them. Watermelon works well near another edge so that it will trail over the side and save space. You could also provide a small trellis for it. Peas and green beans can go in rows anywhere, but provide some plant supports for them before they grow too tall. The root veggies, like carrots, can go between the rows of peas and beans.

Hi Bonnie, the original table had a top that was loose and unattached when I purchased it, so it made it easy to staple the wire the open bottom and form a basket of sorts to hold the landscape fabric and then the soil.

Otherwise it looked like your stapling wire to the wood bottom?

There are new leaf growth coming from around the base. Can I take them off, or somehow recultivate them to make a send plant?
