The slant can go on any side in the construction, it’s just the placement in the garden that will matter. You want the slanted side to face the sun to capture as much sunlight as possible.

Hi Amy, The slant is to try and capture as much of that weak winter sunlight as possible. But depending on where the box is placed, it’s possible you wouldn’t need it.

Is there a reason for the slant to the top of the box? I have massive wood shipping box that I want to repurpose for this particular reason. Just curious if I need to incorporate the slant for a reason.
