Take off all leaves except the top two. Use a deep container (I use the double cup method, punch holes in the bottom of top cup, and fill the bottom cup 1/2 full of water. Plant deeply in top cup. Put your tomato about 1" below the light. Move the light up as it grows or it will burn, this will keep it short and stocky.]]> In reply to Robert Dailey.

Hi Judy, I also wouldn't use foam take-out containers for seed starting, but often use milk jugs, etc for winter sowing. A video here - https://youtu.be/Wo-x78pEPO0. And an article I wrote on winter sowing here - https://farm-kits.com/winter-sowing/ Hope that helps! :) Niki]]> In reply to Judy L White.

(Still no video but that’s OK.) One thing about using take-out containers — just saw a news segment about “forever chemicals” that can be very bad for health, and take-out foam containers are one of the worst for that. Not sure if that would migrate into the onions but people might want to use other containers.

It is now mid-February, far too easrly to set them in the ground. They look like they’re starting to flower. I live in zone 9A. Any suggestions?
